Blue Catalog 1938
Welcome to the little blue catalog page. This tiny rarity measures just 4.5" x 6.5" and has only 24 pages. It is not as small as 1929/1930 'The Road to Happiness' which measures only 3.5" x 6" see Gibson Catalogs.
This catalog is not dated but because of obvious clues, which one can see lower on this page, it dates at about 1938. It may have been circulated into the early 1940's due to the dark blue ink stamp 'BUY AMERICAN' on the cover (this would would only seem logical because the U.S. entered the war in late 1941).
The following pages from this 24 page catalog will illustrate the key points that this catalog dates circa 1938. A few clues are: *there is no mention yet of the (1939) L5 or Super400 Premier models
*only mentions ES/EH 100/150, EST/EM 150 models; no intro of the 1939 ES250, or any other electric model
*several illustrations that appeared in the 1936 'Gibson System for Guitar' books
