Above photographed book is 1936's Electric Hawaiian Method book by Alvino Rey. Note the little lightening bolts! Interesting how electricity was still somewhat novel to instruments at the time.
The above shows that an additional jack was added to this design for an extension speaker, the 'Echo Speaker'.
